Music Program

Kid City offers lessons on guitar, bass, piano, drums, saxophone, flute, trumpet, violin, voice, and more free of charge to high school and college students in our community. Lessons are open to beginning, intermediate and advanced students; instruments are available to lend to students if instrument access is an issue.

Our staff and volunteer instructors emphasize a student-led curriculum, adapting course material to match the students' interest while
imparting universal musical skills and knowledge. Each semester students participate in a recital where they perform for friends and family.

The Kid City Band

Founded more than 10 years ago by students at Kid City, the Kid City band is made up of intermediate-advanced students interested in learning to play and perform music in a variety of contemporary styles, including pop, rock, jazz, funk, blues, hip-hop, and Latin music. Led by Music Program Coordinator Colin Deas, the band meets weekly to learn songs selected by the band members to learn in preparation for several public performances per year.
