Paula Pelayo grew up in South Central LA and joined Kid City as a high schooler to get help applying for colleges. She studied Biology at UCLA and is currently pursuing her PhD at Harvard. Paula is interested in understanding how microbes affect women’s reproductive health. She spends a lot of her time growing microbes in oxygen-free environments, enjoys binge watching shows, doing home workouts, and sharing meals with friends. Paula is passionate about increasing diversity and inclusion in science and hopes to build supportive communities for the next generation of scientists.
