Christopher Astoquillca is a recent graduate of California State University, Northridge where he received his BM in Jazz Studies. Currently, he is the Music Assistant to Colin Deas in the Kid City Music Program. He is also a freelance woodwind instrumentalist who also plays bass, piano, and trumpet. He has performed with Les McCann’s All-Star Band, Grammy Winner Arturo Sandoval’s 2015 ASI All-Star Youth Jazz Band, Grammy-winning vocalists Patti Austin, Brian McKnight, and Barbara Morrison, trumpet player Scotty Barnhart, and notable saxophonists James Carter, Azar Lawerance, Kamasi Washington, Justo Almario, and Charles Owens.
